Graduate Technologists
It is an entry level registration in MBOT for candidates with a Bachelor Degree or higher in the related technology and technical Fields recognized by the Board. The fee to apply for Graduate Technologists is RM50, which is a lifetime registration fee and no yearly renewal is required for Graduate Technologists. Candidates can register and make payment online through MBOT Registration System.

Professional technologist (Ts.)
Qualified Technicians
Qualified Technicians is an entry level registration for candidates with a certificate qualification (minimum MQF Level 3 up to Advance Diploma MQF Level 5) in the related technology and technical fields recognized by the Board. The fee to apply for Qualified Technicians is RM30, which is a lifetime registration fee and no yearly renewal is required. Candidates can register and make payment online through MBOT Registration System.
The Qualified Technicians who has registered and obtained a practical experience which is determined by the Board (minimum 3 years working experience in the related Technology Fields), paid the prescribed fee and complied with all of the criteria determined by the Board may apply to be a Certified Technicians.

Requirements
Having a minimum of 3 years working experience in the related technology and technical fields, as determined by the Board
Paying the prescribed fee and complying with all of the criteria determined by the Board.
Passing a professional assessment in the related technology and technical fields, with a non-refundable fee of RM600 per assessmen

Approving and certifying the manner or conduct of technical services.
Title
Describing themselves or holding themselves out under any name, style or title that includes the word Professional Technologists or its equivalent, the abbreviated title “Ts.” before their name, and the abbreviation “P.Tech” and their specialization after their name.
Renewal
Renewing their Professional Technologist title annually with a fee of RM200, subject to fulfilling 30 CPD hours endorsed by MBOT

Requirements
Qualified Technicians need 3 years of practical experience in the related technology fields to apply for Certified Technicians.
They also need to pay RM300 and pass an assessment in the related technology fields.
After passing the assessment, they need to pay RM200 and comply with the Board’s criteria to become Certified Technicians.

Certified Technicians need to renew their title annually with a fee of RM100 and 20 CPD hours.
Application Journey
Professional Assessment
MBOT assessment is based on the respective technology and technical Fields. The assessment is crafted by the Technology Expert Panel and will be driven by the industry.
This industry driven type of assessment is important to ensure that MBOT’s Professional Technologists and Certified Technicians has the highest credentials that will meet the expectations of the industry. The Professional Assessment modules formulated by the TEP aims to cover the latest technology on the ground and shall be updated as and when needed to maintain its relevancy. Every technology and technical fields shall have a specific assessment based on its own niche and will involve professional review (if required) in terms of skills as well as specific knowledge which is needed to become a certified and recognized professional.
MBOT is working closely with its Technology Expert Panel to ensure that the assessment is exceeding the expectation of the industry.
Two components of MBOT’s Professional Assessment:
- Written Assessment – This assessment will be conducted on a regular basis online and will be reviewed by Technology Expert Panel (TEP); and
- Interview – the interview process will be conducted by TEP and regulated by the Examination and Qualification Committee after the written assessment is completed.
